Support
Write to support@schoolhouse.example.com. A person answers, usually within two business days, often sooner. Before you write, the questions below cover most of what families ask.
Something not working? In the app, open Settings › Send diagnostics. It shows you a short report about the app and your device with every name, address, and phone number removed, then opens Mail with it attached. It saves a round of questions.
Frequently asked questions
Setting up
Do I need an account?
No. There are no Schoolhouse accounts. Your records live on your device and in your own iCloud.
Can I use it on my iPhone and my iPad?
Yes. Sign both into the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and records sync between them. It also runs on Apple silicon Macs as an iPad app.
What if my curriculum's table of contents does not scan well?
Flat page, even light, one column at a time. Anything the scan gets wrong is editable on the list before it is added. Pasting the list from the publisher's website or a PDF is often quickest, and "Generate" makes numbered lessons for workbooks in one tap.
Where is the Apple Intelligence cleanup?
On the correction screen after a scan, on devices that support Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro and later, iPads with M1 or later). It runs on the device and is optional; the app never needs it.
Every day
We missed two days. What now?
Open Plan and tap Bump for the student or for everyone. Unfinished lessons move to the next available days; finished and pinned lessons stay. The Sunday reminder tells you when something is waiting to be bumped.
Why does a course say Behind?
There is overdue work: a lesson planned for a past day that has not been checked off, skipped, or bumped. Bump and it clears. "Won't finish" means the lessons do not fit before the end of the year under the current rule; the course's catch-up options show what would.
Can a child mark their own work?
Yes, in student mode (Pro). Tap the lock on Today, choose the student, and hand the device over. Leaving needs the family PIN or, where the enrolled face is yours, Face ID. Partial and skip stay with the parent.
How are hours counted?
Each checked-off lesson adds its minutes: the timer's if you ran one, the minutes you set on the lesson, or the course's default. Routines, events, and activities that count toward hours add theirs. Everything is filed by subject, core or non-core, and home or away.
Reports and states
Which states have their own formats?
New York (quarterly report and IHIP), Pennsylvania (evaluator summary), and Missouri (hours log) in 1.0. Every state gets the attendance, hours, lesson log, reading list, and portfolio reports. See state requirements.
My district has its own form.
Most accept a substantially equivalent document; ask first. The reports carry the same fields the standard forms ask for, cite the regulation, and print the parent, district, and evaluator details you enter once under Report details.
Can I print?
Yes, to any AirPrint printer, or share the PDF to Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or Files. US Letter by default; A4 in the report's menu.
Plans and purchases
What is free?
The whole planner for one student, forever: courses, every scheduling rule, bump, pace, Today, timers, attendance, hours, reading log, assessments, activities, 25 portfolio items, paste and spreadsheet import, widgets, reminders, Siri, iCloud sync, backup and restore. See pricing.
My subscription ended. Is my data locked?
No. Nothing you entered is ever locked, hidden, or deleted. Only new gated actions stop (adding a student beyond one, opening a report, student mode, camera import, the 26th portfolio item). Everything else keeps working, including export and backup.
How do I cancel, or get a refund?
Cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions; Pro stays until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I reinstalled and Pro is gone.
Tap Restore purchases under Settings › Schoolhouse Pro or on any plan screen. Purchases belong to your Apple Account.
Your data: export and deletion
Export. Settings › Back up and restore › Create a backup writes one JSON file with everything (students, courses, lessons, check-offs, records, narratives, the family PIN, and the photos if you include them). Save it to Files or share it anywhere. Reports export as PDF from each student's Reports screen. Export never needs Pro.
Deletion. Settings › Delete all data removes every record from the device and, through iCloud, from your other devices. Deleting the app from every device and removing Schoolhouse under Settings › Apple Account › iCloud › Manage Storage removes the iCloud copy. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Moving to another app. The backup file is plain JSON with a documented layout, so your records can be read by anything that reads JSON. Your records are yours.
Beta and feedback
Schoolhouse is in beta on TestFlight before its App Store release in January 2027. Beta families use TestFlight's screenshot feedback or the diagnostics email. Want in? Write to support with your state and how many students you teach.
